Proven Methods

For nearly 80 years, EHC has worked with large networks of Christians and churches in nearly 200 nations to bring a gospel message to people in 2.6 billion homes. 300 million people have expressed their desire to know more about Jesus and his gospel. The impact has been remarkable and continues to grow.

EHC leaders, teams and volunteers serve in scores of nations on every continent. In many nations they face challenges we can only imagine.

Our co-workers provide a gospel message in print or other media that people can read and reread. They visit people home-by-home, carry out youth evangelistic events, pray with people and often give away provisions to those in need. Their faithful work produces a harvest, one person at a time.

After hearing and responding to the faith-generating gospel message, it is essential that people learn how to grow as disciples of Christ. In recent years, our EHC co-workers around the world have followed up with tens of thousands of people daily, helping them engage in Bible study, prayer, and grow in their new-found faith.

Our unique approach to global evangelism

EHC’s proven approach to gospel outreach spans nearly 80 years, working with local Christians in over 120 nations. Our process is simple, strategic, and systematic. We go to where people live and provide them with a gospel message that includes an opportunity for response and to request follow-up. Everything we do is to make the gospel message present to people in a repeatable format wherever they live.

  1. 1

    In-depth research

Research is vital for understanding a region and its people. Prior to an EHC gospel outreach we ask, “How many people live in this region? How many are without the gospel? How do they live? What do they believe? What spiritual beliefs guide them?” We seek to understand the social, religious and political history, as well as economic realities.

  2. 2

    Prayer mobilization

Prayer is a key contributing factor to the growing impact of EHC. Our strong prayer mobilization initiative has helped Christians pray for lost people in every corner of the world. Over the decades, millions of hours of prayer have been poured out for the world and the workers in God's harvest field.

  3. 3

    Local leadership

EHC works with local Christians — people who know the culture, speak the language and identify fully with the population. They are uniquely capable of communicating with their own people. Financial support of these leaders and workers generally costs less than the support of sent missionaries, ensuring wise stewardship of resources.

  4. 4

    Strategic partnerships

For nearly 80 years we have partnered with scores of Christian organizations in order to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ. Whether the task is training, transportation, translation or some other work, EHC recognizes and appreciates the value of Christ-centered partnership.

  5. 5

    Systematic saturation

Systematically going to every dwelling in an entire nation to provide a gospel message to people has proven to be a reachable goal. We use printed gospel messages complemented by messaging in digital formats. We use gospel literature that is right for the audience, and provide material for adults and children in the language or dialect of the local people. We also map where we’ve been. This helps us ensure follow-up, and identifies places we need to go. Saturation to us literally means going to every home in the name of Christ.

  6. 6

    Life-to-life discipleship

Simply planting the seed is not enough. We believe in cultivating and conserving the harvest. Every gospel message has a built-in way for people to respond and contact one of our offices. Over the decades more than 300 million people in nearly 200 nations have reached out to us. We respond with a multi-lesson Bible correspondence course and guide seekers into existing churches or EHC local Christ Group fellowships.

  7. 7

    Church planting

When we bring the gospel message in places where no churches exist, EHC workers set up fellowships called Christ Groups. In Christ Groups, new and maturing believers can worship, pray together, and be guided through ongoing discipleship material provided by EHC. To date, nearly 500,000 Christ Groups have been formed around the world. Many of these groups have become established, mature congregations.

  8. 8

    Trackable progress

Reaching everyone possible, everywhere possible requires a plan and a way to track progress. Our local teams around the world use maps of their nation to prepare their outreaches. They know where they’ve been, what was done in each location, and where to go next. They keep a record of requests that come in for discipleship support and resources and plan next steps.
