THE STORY BEGINS…
Struck by a car, and hospitalized for months and then discharged, only to be told he would never walk again, Jeremiah of Papua New Guinea sank into the depths of despair.
Jeremiah experienced an outstanding miracle and today he shares the love of God with people in his nation.
In this dark and hopeless condition he lay helpless. Then one day in early 2013 our EHC co-workers came by his house as they went home to home with a message of life and hope in Christ. They shared the message of God’s love and salvation through Christ. Jeremiah responded to their message by accepting Christ as his Saviour. The workers prayed for him and asked the Lord to touch him with His healing power.
Later that night Jeremiah woke from his sleep to experience a miracle he never thought would happen. He literally got up from his bed and started walking. He immediately began to praise God! From that moment he committed to follow Christ and join with EHC, to serve the Lord for the rest of his life. Following discipleship training he moved to the Western Highlands of Papua New Guinea where he now serves in his mission field of Kumbareta Baiyer.
GOD’S MIRACLES MULTIPLY…
Recently while visiting homes, Jeremiah decided to reach a group of homes at the top of a mountain. On the way, he met an elderly woman with her younger daughter walking down from the mountain. He approached them and asked if he could give them a gospel tract and share the word of God with them. The woman was very angry and spit in Jeremiah’s face. She said she did not need his message and mockingly told him to go to the top of the mountain and preach to a group of young men who were gambling.
Jeremiah was lost for words. However, he spoke these three simple words to her: “God loves you.”
Jeremiah stood there for a while and then recovering strength, he walked up to the top of the mountain. Reaching the group of young men, he sat down near them and watched them for a while. Noticing that he was a stranger they asked if he would like to gamble with them. He replied, “I’m not here to gamble with you. I am a missionary and would like to share a message of God’s love for you.”
In the midst of his message the daughter of the elderly woman who had spit in his face earlier arrived and interrupted him. She begged him to go down to the creek and pray for her mother. Something had struck her mother and knocked her unconscious after she spit at Jeremiah. She was injured to the extent that it appeared she might be dying. Jeremiah told the daughter that he wouldn’t go down to pray for her but instead her mother needed to confess and admit her need for God’s forgiveness.
Soon after this, four young men carried the elderly woman from the creek to the mountain where Jeremiah was preaching. Jeremiah stopped preaching and stated that he forgave the woman for what she had done to him. He then prayed for her and she confessed her sins and accepted Jesus Christ into her life.
As a result of that dramatic turnaround another 20 people surrendered their lives to the Lord in that remote village. To God be the Glory!
