Updated Messengers of Hope resources

Harvest Partner — June 25, 2024

We are so grateful for the thousands of individuals across Canada who are using the Finding the Hope booklet in many different ways. They creatively make the message of hope in Christ known to people in a variety of ways. These personal outreaches are in addition to the every home community saturation outreaches that we carry out with local congregations.

The booklet has been written so that it can be used in the simplest of ways, even without meeting one-on-one or speaking with someone. It can be left somewhere to be discovered, sent to someone with a greeting card or passed along in the traffic of daily life. We are thrilled to hear how people are creatively using it and we will continue to pass this information along to you. In fact, to date, we have compiled a list of 50 ways people are sowing the good seed of the gospel through these resources. These great ideas will soon be on our website.

Summer is approaching and this provides additional opportunities to sow gospel seeds in the Name of the Lord as we go about our lives.

In a very practical way, Christ followers are messengers of hope. We are not the message, although we have a personal testimony of how the gospel of Christ has worked in our hearts. The centre and source of true and lasting hope is our Lord Jesus Christ. Our role is to point people to him. It is the role of the Holy Spirit to draw and convince people of their need of a Saviour. The gospel message causes faith to rise in a person’s heart so that they can turn to Christ in faith and receive him as their personal Saviour and Lord.

We are updating our FTH Personal Kit that offers materials to assist the messaging of the Good News. The updated kit offers suggestions that help people with ways to be intentional as a messenger to pray, plan, share and follow through. You can order a Personal Kit as noted in the ad on the back page of this Harvest Partner issue.

Let’s take Paul’s encouragement to heart: “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ… Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. (Colossians 4:2-6)

The advantage of gospel literature

Through the years we have referred to gospel literature as “paper missionaries” because they are instruments on a mission. They discretely cross borders and barriers, and effectively do what people aren’t allowed to do in many nations. Read more...

Remember when?

Remembering the right things at the right time can be significant. But remembering and pondering the words of Jesus is vitally important as we face the challenges of this world. Read more...
