Canadians are receiving the message of Hope in English and in French. Finding the Hope campaigns recently took place in the greater Moncton area in NB and also in French-speaking areas including Dieppe, NB and Gatineau, QC. Pastor Emery of Gatineau reported that his church was fully engaged with the campaign and used it as an opportunity to invite people to their Easter Sunday services. Church members reached 2,300 homes and generated hundreds of website visits and requests for the French edition of 7 Days with Jesus. Pastor emery comments, “We had a powerful Easter Sunday with more than 220 people in attendance (we have about 130 on a typical Sunday). The Gospel was clearly proclaimed, we had a wonderful time and made a lot of good contacts. since Easter, our services have had a marked increase in attendance.” He adds, “thank you EHC for your fantastic work.”
From Dieppe, NB, Pastor David Martin writes: “I am glad to report on what God is doing through the Finding the Hope campaign. In addition to the mailings we conducted events at the church and at an off-site location. At the events held at the off-site location, we welcomed 15 visitors, mostly non-churched people. some have made a commitment to follow Christ and some have asked me and my wife to meet with them and do some follow-up Bible study.”
Pastor Martin adds, “We also promoted our Easter service but, unfortunately, we had a very bad storm that day and had to cancel the service. The next Sunday, however, we had a strong attendance and have had new people come to the church regularly as a result of the post-Easter service. several families have requested a pastoral visit. We continue to meet with other new attendees. They are very open to the Gospel and we are meeting with them to study the Word and to pray with them on a regular basis. We are blessed with many new contacts and it is up to us to do the follow up. It is obvious that these people are hungry and thirsty for the Lord. Please pray that God will empower us to do this important work.”
He concludes: “The Finding the Hope campaign with all of its elements has created a lot of exposure to both the Gospel and the existence of our church, which is relatively new in the community. I believe that this will pay off for many years to come. Thank you so much.”
We have only begun our outreach to Canada’s French-speaking population, which is largely an unreached mission field in our nation. We have great need for resources that will enable us to take full advantage of this opportunity. And we need ministry partners who will faithfully pray for this strategic endeavour. If you can join us in meeting either of these needs please let us know!
