Christ has come!

Harvest Partner, News — December 23, 2013

Since this time last year, hundreds of millions of people have personally received that Good News, right where they live, through the ministry of EHC.

EHC co-workers and thousands of volunteers have literally gone home to home with the message that “Christ has come.” Many millions of boys, girls, men and women have responded to that glorious message of love, hope and eternal life. We have gone door to door in more than one hundred nations and seen the power of God’s love break through the darkness of despair, ignorance and fear. The lives of youth and adults have been transformed by the power of God’s Spirit and millions have now joined the discipleship process, many through EHC’s Christ Groups.

I am deeply grateful for your help in this vital aspect of God’s mission. As we continue with the work we come face to face with the reality that a growing number of young people and adults in Canada and worldwide have NEVER heard the Good News. Bringing the Gospel to their homes opens the doors to the most important truth they could ever hear. Jesus loves them.

I want to share with you the extraordinary impact of a simple booklet developed for children called The Story of Jesus. This happened in a region that is predominantly Muslim where the Gospel is not welcome but EHC co-workers and volunteers continue to go out with the Good News of Jesus.

In this community, a little girl went to the local park to play with her friend. As she approached her friend, she saw that she was reading a colourful booklet. When she asked what it was, her friend ran home and brought her another copy. This booklet was The Story of Jesus — the Gospels written especially for children. Together, they sat in the park and read the booklet from cover to cover. Her friend shared her faith and told her that Jesus loved her.

But the little girl was Muslim. She had never heard the story of Jesus before.

She brought the booklet home. Every day for a week, this Muslim girl told her uncle that God loves him. Her uncle did not listen. He told her to put down the booklet and read the Koran.

Yet this child remained persistent. Courageously, she challenged her uncle to read the Koran and find just one passage that said Allah loved him. Her uncle did just that, only he couldn’t find anywhere in the Koran that said Allah loved him.

His niece gave him The Story of Jesus and he read it cover to cover. The Story of Jesus is the story of how much God loves the people He created. He loves us so much that He sent His Son to save us, renew us and be God with us.

As the little girl’s uncle read the story, he believed. He sought out other Christians and determined to learn about Jesus and read the Christian Bible!

God’s miraculous ways turned the simple gift of a story into a message that transformed hearts and changed lives!

Jesus loves people. Everyone needs to know this – children and adults. Wherever they live, be it in a house, a hut, a foster home, an orphanage or the street, in Canada or abroad, this Good News must reach them. We have a special gift catalogue online. Each gift brings the Good News of Jesus to those who have never heard.

Please take a moment to look though this gift catalogue and ask the Lord how you might respond. Your special year-end gift helps spread hope and joy around the world. Thank you for helping reach people with the Gospel. There is no greater gift.

In Christ,

Denys Blackmore

Benigno’s Story

Colca is a village that has great need. The problems and difficulties are overwhelming for many, and there are a lot of people here who suffer from alcoholism and poverty. “It’s in the midst of doing ministry that I met Benigno. Early on, he told me that he knew a lot of Bible principles. He knew biblical ideas, but no one had ever taught him how to really follow Jesus. It gave him real problems in his life." Read more...
